Letter to my Birthday Girl: 6 Years Old

…..
Sweet, precious, Lil, you are so much more than I ever  dreamed of in a little girl. The past couple of months you have seemed to really start coming out of your shell a little bit. You have gained more confidence and are starting to grow into your precious personality. You are still quiet and a little shy around large groups of people or when speaking one on one with someone you don't know, but every day you are becoming a little more outgoing. At home, you are quite the diva! Spunky, bossy, tough, and lively are just a few words I would use to describe your personality at this age. Being only two years apart, you are Reid have really started aggravating each other this past year. You love each other very much, but one of you is always pestering the other one or causing the other one to get in trouble. You absolutely adore Rush, and take such good care of him. He likes playing toys with you or laying in bed beside you and watching YouTube videos. He calls you "Lolli" or "Lil," and gets so excited when you interact with him.

You are so smart, and you have a special interest in reading and language arts. You have wonderful handwriting and reading comprehension skills for your age, and I am always impressed by your art work and crafting skills. I'm guessing that you are going to be a great English student, and be an excellent writer, just like your Nana Karen. Math is not your forte, but you are starting to get the hang of it…although it seems to be more challenging for you than reading, your incredible memorization skills will definitely help you excel in math. Speaking of memorization, you have one crazy good memory, LilliAnn! You can remember things that happened when you were only one year old…things that I barely remember! It's absolutely crazy, and it amazes me every time you bring something up that I think there is no one you could remember. Another one of your strengths is finding things. We call you our "best finder girl" because if we've lost anything at all, you ALWAYS find it. All of us always look at each other in disbelief, because after searching forever for something, you always know exactly where something is with only a little bit of looking! This has freaked your nana and I out on more than one occasion!

Some of your favorite friends include, Sophia Wilson, Lyla Rogers, Bella Acock, Presley Ablay, Audrey Thompson, and your cousin Josslynn. You play great with other little girls and always have the best temperament when it comes to getting along with others (except when it comes to Reid)!
…..
Your current activities include dance, gymnastics/tumbling, cheerleading, piano, and soccer. You love lots of different things, so we stay super busy! You have a different favorite every week, but seem to enjoy dance the most. Last year was your first year at piano, and you absolutely rocked it! You scored a 1 at Guild, and played your two piano pieces perfectly at the recital. I was so proud of you that I thought my heart could explode! I love listening to you play, and I hope piano is something that you will stick with because I always wished that I had learned to play. Your daddy's favorite activity that you do is soccer. When you are on the soccer field, an aggressiveness comes out that we don't normally see in you. You have a competitive drive and stay right in there with the boys on your team. You scored several goals last spring and fall (more than any other girl on your team - and more than most boys!), and we can't wait to watch you do your thing this year!

Oh, how I love your laugh when you really get tickled! It always makes my entire day! I usually hear it when Reid or Rush have done something that you think is funny, and you can't stop laughing at them. You can't help but smile and start laughing too when you hear that precious giggle! You still come into our room in the middle of the night to sleep with us, and I honestly don't mind because I want to keep you little for as long as I can. This year is the first year that I started noticing you looking like a little girl instead of a toddler/baby girl, and although you are beautiful, it still breaks my heart a little to see you growing up.

The verse posted below is the verse that I have prayed over you for the past year. The Lord placed it on my heart several months ago when there were some issues with "mean girls" at school, and I feel like this scripture is perfect for you to always remember. You have a gentle, quiet spirit, much more so than myself, which is similar to your Nana Karen's and I love how this verse describes this type of spirit as being "of great worth in God's sight." I pray you always remember your great worth and forever keep the confidence of being the daughter of the King. You've made statements such as, "Mommy, did you know that I'm a real princess because I am the daughter of the King?" and "Reid! I am beautiful and a princess because I am God's daughter." I love that these are the word that your spirit is filled with and I hope you treasure these words and keep them forever in your heart.
