A Very Blessed Christmas

What a very fun, but busy Christmas we had this year! We went to six Christmas gatherings with family, and due to Kassidy's unexpected hospital visit we still have one to go! Reid was still a little too young this year to understand the whole Santa concept and at first he really wasn't that into opening presents. He liked playing with all the stuff that was already opened! We started our Christmas celebrations at Jeb's mom's house a few nights before Christmas. Josh, Lacee, & Jett were there and she cooked one of my favorite meals...fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy!

Jett got a bull that he could practice roping and Reid has a good time riding it!

The next night we were off to Byng to have Christmas with the Rollins. And of course, the boys just played and played! They're at the age where they're starting to play really well. Jett has learned to share with Reid and that Reid's younger and doesn't always mean it when he pulls his hair!
Papa Jeff got both of the boys toy shotguns. This was Reid's very first gun and he loves it. He walks around the house shooting Jeb and I and saying "boom boom" and if we don't make a noise or act like we're hurt he yells "momma! boom boom!!!"

On Christmas Eve we always go over to my Grandma Lucy and Papa Glenn's house. As long as I can remember we've always gone to their house on Christmas Eve. My entire family on my dad's side is always there and even though our family is very close and we get together quite often, Christmas time at Grandma's is extra special! When we were little, my Papa Glenn would always have a pinata filled with money for the six cousins. We would bust it and try and get as much money as we could and then Grandma would make us put all the money in the middle of a circle and divide it up evenly among us. I hope that we start this tradition again for the great-grandkids as they become older, as it's one of my favorite Christmas memories. This year Papa cooked steaks and the food was delicious!
..........
Aunt Glenda got me some toys for the new baby and Grandma got her the sweetest outfit, hat, doll, and blanket.
.........
Stocking time! He got lots of candy and snacks, a toothbrush, underwear, socks, and long johns, but his favorite was the bag of Goldfish!
..........
Brotherly Love - We spend an extra amount of time with Josh, Lacee, and Jett during the holidays since we're related on both sides!

Trying on his new big boy underwear...I think he likes them! Now he goes to his drawer and gets out all his underwear and wants to pick the ones he puts on. He doesn't want my help though, it's always "momma I do it!"

What a gentleman! At this point the Blizzard of 2009 had hit full force and Kassidy volunteered to load up our cars for us. Dad wanted to get back to Shawnee so we drove in this stuff! Our normal "less than 45 minute drive" from Wewoka Lake to Shawnee ended up taking us almost 3 hours! There was one point when we were almost to Seminole that Jeb couldn't see at all because the snow and wind were so bad and I got really anxious. Dad and Jeb were having to pull over every few miles to scrape off the windshield. Our escalades are all-wheel drive and did great for the most part, but as we were trying to get Aunt Tammy unstuck in Seminole, Kassidy ran up on a median with a snow dune and got mom & dad's car stuck too!

After leaving Grandma and Papa's we always have Christmas with my mom and dad on Christmas Eve. Since we made it to Shawnee we decided to still have Christmas at mom and dad's so we stopped by the house to pick up some gifts and this is what our front door looked like! We had no snow at all just a few hours prior to this!

We finally got to my mom and dad's all safe and sound! We decided to spend the night here because of the weather so I helped mom cook some homeade chili and put Reid in his new Christmas pajamas and his Santa house shoes (which he LOVED...he loves all types of shoes), and him and daddy read stories until it was time to open presents.
..........
First present from Nana and Papa - ELMO!!! At first he wasn't too sure about him because he moves and talks and is pretty "life-like" for a toy. But after a few minutes of getting warmed up to him and he was dragging Elmo all over the house.

I love this picture! Sitting spread eagle and helping Papa open his present!

And mom got some new boots!
...........
We got Kass the Tony Hawk skateboarding game for Wii that he had been wanting.
..........
Jeb got some soap in his stocking...how exciting :) It was pretty funny soap. One side says Butt and the other side says face.
..........
Reid's favorite present from Nana and Papa...his very own Apple iTouch!

Silly boy!

After we woke up on Christmas morning we went back to our house to see what Santa had brought Reid. I heated up a homeade sausage roll for breakfast and we had our little family Christmas.

Santa had come! He even brought Reid's little sister some presents...a tutu, some shoes, a bib, some hair bows, a pink bling bling pacifier, a book, and some toys.
..........
Reid must've been a really good boy! He got a John Deere Gator!
..........
I don't even think he noticed the balls, barn, hummer and boat toy, Wee Sing movies, Elmo movies, puzzles, and cars that were loaded up in the back!

Daddy helping him put on his very first baseball glove.
..........
I got a really cute gray Northface hoodie!
..........
..........
Jeb loved his Polo pullover!
..........
After we finished opening presents we got all dressed up to head to Uncle Doyle and Aunt Patsy's house. The entire extended Cook family has been having lunch on Christmas day at Doyle and Patsy's for the past 25 years and I've never missed one Christmas at their house.
..........
As soon as we walked in the door Jett and Reid greeted in their usual way...with a wrestling match. Reid usually ends up on bottom!
..........
Merry Christmas!

A big smile...a wonderful end to a wonderful Christmas!

Thank you Lord for blessing us with such wonderful family. We are so fortunate and have so much to be thankful for. Let us never forget the reason for Christmas...to celebrate the birth of your son, Jesus. He truly is the greatest gift of all!
Happy Birthday Jesus!
