Fourth of July...Finally!

.....
I'm finally getting around to posting about our Fourth of July festivities. The following pictures just about sum up our summer. Fun. Family. Friends. Lake Life. Relaxing. Silly Faces. Fishing. Togetherness.
.....
.....
The weekend before the Fourth we had a big cookout at the lake place (The Cook Compound). We invited lots of family and friends. My cousin Tara invited her husband's family down from Edmond and we invited our friends Mark and Barbara and their kids.
.....
.....
We cooked hot dogs and chili...Lacee was an expert hot dog cooker!
.....
Granny and Buzz were there!
.....
Aunt Gayla brought Emma, and the little girls loved playing together!
.....
I made my famous creme brulee for everyone that night.
.....
Yes, I even got out the propane torch! I made original and key lime!
.....
Josslynn & LilliAnn's outfits from last summer still fit them so we had a little photo shoot. These girls are absolutely adorable!
.....
cute cousins
.....
LilliAnn had a few moments of daydreaming...as usual.
.....
I caught her singing to her invisible audience...such a little performer. These are her hand motions she does when she sings "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid.
.....
They played baby dolls together. It was so sweet.

.....
.....
I just can't get enough of her cuteness!
.....
A little Nana lovin'
.....
.....
I LOVE my mother!
.....
That evening the kids went fishing. Jett caught a little perch by the dock!
.....
Next it was time for some fireworks. The sparklers were a BIG hit!
.....
For such a small lake, Wewoka did a great job with their fireworks display.
.....
Sis did sparklers ALL NIGHT LONG! She kept saying, "It's all gone gone. I need another one!"
.....
.....
Beautiful night at Wewoka Lake
.....
.....
The next morning the kids went fishing again. Fishing has been Reid's thing this summer. The boy wants to fish ALL the time! Sissy's favorite part is getting the minnows out of the minnow bucket.
.....
"Wook, mommy. It's a wittle baby one."
.....
such a serious fisherman
.....
.....
....
Going for a walk
.....
CUTIE PATOOTIE!
.....
What a handsome boy!!
.....
Cheez-Its and rocks...what else could a girl ask for?
.....
Daredevil Jett...jumping in the water!
.....
.....
On the actual Fourth, we attempted our annual theme photo shoot. It didn't go so well this year. Neither child was in the mood for pictures and it was soooooo hot outside!
.....
.....
.....
In the shade...a little better!
.....
Even Kelbo got in the patriotic spirit!
.....
And so did Nana Karen!
.....
.....
Bathing Beauties!
.....
.....
Lovin' this hair! This is right before we trimmed the fuzz off of the ends. It's just not getting this length again. Lil's hair grows sooooo slow!
.....
Handome boy!
.....
Cute kiddos!
.....
The whole gang!
.....

We had the best view in Seminole that night...and it was a very HAPPY Fourth of July!

oh, Lil!

LilliAnn cracks me up! I can not get her to say that she needs to go to the restroom...she always yells (at the top of her lungs, wherever we are) "Mommy! I need to go POOOOOOP! I need to go POOOOOP weally bad! I need to go POOOOOP now!" Although it sounds more like, pewwwwwp!

The girl is SOOOO dramatic. And I have no idea where she got that from?! This was our conversation tonight in the movie theatre.

"Mommy! I need to go pooooop! Poooop!"

"Ok, sis."

...I sit her down on the toilet and walk out of the stall (she won't let me be in the stall with her, she'll say "go out there, mommy").

As I'm going to the bathroom she says: "Mommy, are you peeing? Are you?"

"Yes, LilliAnn."

"Now that's what I'm talkin' about. Oh yeah."

She is A MESS!

The pile up.

I just have to document this story.

So we're in New Orleans at the Aquarium of the Americas...the day before we leave for the cruise...mom, dad, me, Jeb, the kids, Kass, and his friends - Taylor and Pete. We had been looking around the aquarium and it was time to go up to the second floor. It was EXTREMELY crowded in the place...people and strollers everywhere...I mean bumper to bumper!

We got to the escalator and I saw the sign that said "No Strollers." We had the big sit and stand double stroller, but dad was pushing it and thought that it would be fine to take it up the escalator since the kids weren't sitting in it. Kass, Pete, Taylor, and Reid get on the escalator first, followed by mom, then dad and the stroller, me, and then Jeb carrying LilliAnn. Remember: it is very crowded and congested in there.

About half way up the escalator the stroller's wheel gets stuck and mom has to help dad loosen it up. They get that all taken care of, and the next thing I know mom is running into Kass, Taylor, and Pete - Reid wiggles his way through the crowd, dad and the stroller are stuck because the people are not moving ahead of him. At the top of the escalator you can only go one way - to the left with a sharp "right angle," which is NOT good on a Saturday in July with TONS of people filling the aquarium. There is an exhibit of river fish at the top of the escalator that everyone had stopped to check out.

So...picture this...escalator still going...people stopped at a stand still at the top of the escalator...mom falling down and getting stuck...dad falling on top of her, but trying not to - so he pulls his hamstring...me jumping up on top of the silver rails of the escalator at the very top and lifting the HUGE double stroller up with one hand like Hercules...me yelling at Jeb to get up on the rail...he jumps up on top of the escalator rail with LilliAnn...escalator still going...I'm still holding up this huge stroller with one hand...girl shouting "Everyone needs to start moving forward as soon as possible!! Shut the @*$# thing off!!! Is everyone ok? Someone help them now!"

The escalator gets shut off. Mom and dad stand back up. Jeb, Lil, and I get down from the escalator railing, and...everyone is ok...by the grace of God. I still CANNOT believe that happened. If that was on video, it would have been hilarious to look back and watch, but it was so scary at the time and quite the spectacle!
